
Auditor General’s
Office (AGO) and The Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives (CA
Maldives) has signed a memorandum of understanding today. The MOU was signed in order to facilitate a
collaborative effort between both parties especially during the transitional
period of the institute where structure and policies will be formulated. The
development of the accountancy profession in the Maldives being mandated to the
Auditor General under the Audit Act (4/2007), AGO is obliged to provide any
assistance in the development of the CA Maldives and the MOU paves the way to facilitate
the requirements.
The MOU was signed by
Director of Corporate Services, Mr. Adam Naseer from AGO and on behalf of the
CA Maldives, Vice President of the Council Mr. Hassan Mohamed.
The MOU also
establishes the mechanisms to share the resources, equipment and personnel of
AGO for the operational use of the CA Maldives. It also ensures future opportunities
for the staff of AGO on the training and development programs conducted by CA
Maldives. The MOU stands for the transitional period of the council which is
four years.
