The Auditor General held a productive meeting with Councillor and Head of Cooperation Ms. Linda Ehrichs from the High Commission of Canada to discuss the upcoming partnership between the Auditor General’s Office (AGO) and the Canadian Audit and Accountability Foundation (CAAF). This collaboration has been initiated through the Governance, Accountability, and Transparency for Inclusive Public Service (GATIPS) program, which seeks to enhance public sector governance through improved oversight.

The discussion centered on strengthening the AGO’s technical expertise in conducting Performance and Environmental Audits, ensuring greater accountability and transparency in public service delivery. The partnership will focus on capacity-building initiatives by leveraging CAAF’s global experience in audit methodologies, including training programs, knowledge exchange, and best practice sharing. These efforts align with broader objectives to promote sustainable development and effective resource management.

Ms. Ehrichs reaffirmed Canada’s commitment to supporting institutional reforms that foster good governance. Both parties expressed optimism about the long-term benefits of this collaboration, which will contribute to more robust audit functions and strive to enhance public trust in government institutions.
